Zwicklbauer, Frank Earn Atlantic 10 Weekly Honors
09/16/2019 | Field Hockey
University of Richmond field hockey duo Elise Zwicklbauer and Lindsey Frank teamed up twice in the final six minutes of the Spiders' nonconference win over Lehigh this past weekend, earning themselves Atlantic 10 Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the week honors, respectively.
Â
The honor is the first for both Zwicklbauer and Frank in their careers. Zwicklbauer becomes the first Spider since 2017 to earn Player of the Week accolades, while Frank is the first to take home Rookie of the Week honors since last season when currently sophomore Addie Nash did so in the final weekend of regular season play.
Â
Zwicklbauer had a standout weekend for the Spiders when she sparked the team's 4-2 come-from-behind win on Friday afternoon at Lehigh. After assisting on the Spiders' first goal of the game, the senior scored the game's final two goals in the final six minutes to lift the Spiders to their third win of the season. Her five points on the day were a career high, and she now leads the team with 10 points on the year.
Â
Frank has stepped up for the Spiders in her first season on the field, and this weekend was no different as the rookie assisted both of Zwicklbauer's goals in the final minutes of the win at Lehigh. She played all but 10 minutes in each game for the Spiders over the weekend, the third most on the team, and has started each of the Spiders' six games this season in the midfield. Frank leads the Spiders with four assists this season.
Â
The Spiders return to action this Friday, September 20, when they host rival VCU to open A-10 play. The two teams will be playing to support Go 4 The Goal in support of those fighting pediatric cancer.
