Spiders Partner With PlaySight To Bring Smart Video Technology To Basketball Facilities

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond Athletics has partnered with PlaySight to bring PlaySight's Smart AI and connected camera sports video technology to its basketball teams and facilities, the school and company announced on Wednesday.

PlaySight's video and performance tools will be installed in both the Robins Center and the Queally Athletics Center, the Spiders new basketball practice and training facility that is scheduled to open in 2020. Richmond is the first Atlantic 10 Conference basketball program to partner with PlaySight, a technology company that works with nearly 100 other NCAA programs and 15 NBA and WNBA organizations.

"What separated PlaySight is its player-development capabilities," said men's head coach Chris Mooney. "During recruiting, we're going to be able to show individuals through film exactly how we can help them with their game."

Women's head coach Aaron Roussell believes that PlaySight will provide his program with increased flexibility when on the court, saying "PlaySight will allow us to allocate our staff to breaking down the film and doing other things during our workouts and practices. Our staff couldn't be more excited about this technology and what it will allow our staff to do with this video."
