Cayo Named Co-Atlantic 10 Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond men's basketball senior Nathan Cayo has been named Co-Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. He shares the honor with Saint Louis senior Javonte Perkins.

Cayo, a native of Montreal, Quebec, collected his first A-10 weekly honor after putting on a clinic in the Spiders two wins in the Bluegrass Showcase in Lexington, Kentucky, over Morehead State and No. 10 Kentucky.

With his career-high tying 23-point performance in Richmond's 82-64 win over Morehead State, Cayo became the seventh player in Atlantic 10 history to shoot 10-for-10 or better from the field in a game. He followed up with 18 points and six rebounds to help the Spiders defeat the No. 10 Wildcats, 76-64 on Sunday for the program's first-ever road win against an AP top-10 opponent.

Cayo also collected Most Valuable Player honors at the Bluegrass Showcase for his performances.

Up next, Cayo and the Spiders head to Charleston, S.C., to take on the College of Charleston Cougars on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at TD Arena.
