Women's Lacrosse: Meet the Class of 2023

Before the season has even started, the University of Richmond women's lacrosse team class of 2023 has already picked up some attention.
Ranked as the No. 10 incoming freshman class in the nation by IL Women in the fall, three of the 11-member class was also named to the IL Women's Power 100 Incoming Freshman list. Sophia DiCenso is ranked No. 6, Arden Tierney No. 27, and Lindsay Frank has earned a spot on the watch list. Two were Under Armour All-American North South All-Starts while eight were selected as 2019 US Lacrosse All-Americans.
Get to know the 11 new faces looking to make an impact on the field for the Spiders this season.
Arden Tierney | Port Washington, N.Y. | Attack
Coach Kwolek on Tierney: Arden makes tough plays look easy. She's a versatile attacker with a smooth stick and is fun to watch. We'll look to her as a significant contributor on the offensive end.
Sophia DiCenso | Foxboro, Mass. | Midfield
Coach Kwolek on DiCenso: Sophia's experience playing at the highest level with the US program, has quickly transitioned her to the college game. She's a stand out player who has the special combination of being highly skilled, while always giving maximum effort on the field.
Hannah Vates | Holmden, N.J. | Midfield
Coach Kwolek on Vates: Hannah is a scrappy workhorse, whose effort challenges everyone on the team daily. She has already made tremendous gains from the fall and we are looking forward to her continued growth.
Maggie O'Brien | Berwyn, Pa. | Midfield
Coach Kwolek on O'Brien: A pure athlete and competitor, Maggie had a great fall season in the midfield. She understands the game and always puts herself in the position to make a play on both sides of the ball.
Jax Donohue | Amherst, N.H. | Defense
Coach Kwolek on Donohue: As a multi-sport athlete growing up, Jax is able to adapt well and make adjustments on the fly. She makes her presence known on the field and puts full effort into hustle plays.
Grace Jamin | Rumson, N.J. | Defense
Coach Kwolek on Jamin: Grace is a composed defender who uses her speed and height to her advantage. We are excited to watch her develop within our defensive unit this season.
Charlotte Albert | Princeton, N.J. | Attack
Coach Kwolek on Albert: Charlotte is a crafty attacker around the cage who has a ton of potential. Her IQ and stick work consistently put her in a position to score.
Kendall Duffy | Sinking Spring, Pa. | Midfield
Coach Kwolek on Duffy: Kendall is a true two way middle and arguably the fastest player on our team. She can do a little bit of everything—from being scrappy on the draw to a tough 1v1 defender—she is another freshmen whose impact we are excited to see.
Lindsey Frank | Gansevoort, N.Y. | Midfield
Coach Kwolek on Frank: Off an all-rookie team campaign in Spider field hockey, Lindsey already comes to us with a drive to win and collegiate experience. Combine that with her athleticism and stick work, we see her being an immediate contributor in the midfield for us.
Emilie Bloyer | Eden Prairie, Minn. | Goalie
Coach Kwolek on Bloyer: Emilie has gained a lot of experience for us in the cage this fall. Her ice hockey background is evident and adds to her skill set. She attacks shots well and consistently drives her hands to the ball.
Daniela Stelcer | Port Washington, N.Y. | Goalie
Coach Kwolek on Stelcer: Daniela has proven to be extremely coachable and eager to grow her game over the fall and preseason. She brings great experience coming from a top high school program out of Long Island.
