Mitchell Top Spiders Finisher at River Landing Classic

WALLACE, N.C. -- Sophomore Naomi Mitchell was the top Spiders finisher at the River Landing Classic on Tuesday, shooting a three-over 75 for a 54-hole total of 228 (+12), tied for 30th in the field of 68. The result was Mitchell's second-straight top-30 finish and her fourth in six events this season. Her score was tied for her second-lowest in a tournament this season.Â
Mitchell finished two shots in front of freshman Muskan Uppal, who carded a second straight round of 75 (+3) on Tuesday to finish tied for 40th at 230 (+14). Uppal totaled 39 pars over 54 holes at the event, tied for the second most of any golfer. Freshman Vicky Zhu turned in three rounds in the 70s (79-77-79) en route to a 54-hole total of 235 (+19), tied for 51st. Sophomore Emily Ward was just behind Zhu in a tie for 55th place at 236 (+20). Junior Ally Steffen tied for 66th after shooting 82 (+10) on Tuesday, her best round of the event.
As a team, the Spiders placed 12th with a total score of 929 (+65). The team's next event is the 54-hole Kingsmill Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Va. on March 30-31.
