Women’s Track Heads to IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championships

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's track team is on the road again this weekend, competing in the 2020 IC4A/ECAC Indoor Championship Saturday and Sunday in Boston, Mass., hosted at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center.
Eleven Spider student-athletes are set to compete in the competition after qualifying earlier this indoor season. Two men's cross country members also qualified to compete at the championship meet.
The UR women's track team is coming off of a fifth-place finish at the 2020 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship in Kingston, R.I., last weekend. At the A-10 meet, sophomore Kayla Woods (Wilmington, Del.) collected gold in the long jump after turning in a personal best distance of 5.91 meters.
DMR quartet of freshman Lily Snow (Richmond, Va.), sophomore Rachel Helbling (McDonald, Pa.), freshman Kate McAndrew (Denville, N.J.) and senior Claire Brown (Erie, Pa.) defended their title for a fourth-straight year with a first-place time of 11:47.39.
In the 500-meter race, Helbling took third after winning her heat with a personal best time of 1:14.36.
Freshman Kamryn Ross (Richmond, Va.) finished second in the 60-meter hurdles, lowering her Richmond program record, with a time of 8.63.
Spider quartet of sophomore Kendra Smither (Richmond, Va.), senior Maria Acosta (Maywood, N.J.), junior Brooke Fazio (Basking Ridge, N.J.) and Brown set Atlantic 10 Conference meet and URI Mackal Field House records in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 8.:59.91 to win the event.
