Six Spiders Named VaSID Academic All-State

RICHMOND, Va. – Six Richmond student-athletes were named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Academic All-State for their efforts on the field and in the classroom. In order to qualify, student-athletes must be a sophomore in academic standing with a minimum of a 3.25 grade point average.
Senior cross country student-athlete Miles Clikeman (North Chesterfield, Va.), junior men's lacrosse student-athlete Jason Reynolds (Chester Springs, Pa.), senior field hockey student-athlete Elise Zwicklbauer (Burnt Hills, N.Y.), junior men's golf student-athlete Michael Baker (Concord, N.C.), senior track/cross country student-athlete Erika Echternach (Lititz, Pa.) and junior women's lacrosse student-athlete Rachel Ziemba (Cazenovia, N.Y.) were among the 222 student-athletes honored by VaSID across 22 schools in the state of Virginia.
Clikeman is a mathematics major and was honored as the Top Male Scholar Athlete in the athletics department this year. This marks the second-straight year he has earned Academic All-State honors and is a three-time Academic All-Atlantic 10 recipient. Clikeman also earned All-Atlantic 10 honors on the course this fall, placing sixth at the A-10 Championships.
Reynolds is also a two-time Academic All-State selection majoring in business administration. He is a two-time Academic All-Southern Conference selection and a three-time SoCon Honor Roll selection. Reynolds was named Inside Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-America this year in the shortened season and is a two-time All-SoCon selection.
Zwicklbauer picks up her second-straight Academic All-State recognition for the biology major. She is a three-time NFCHA Scholar of Distinction honoree and a two-time Academic All-Atlantic 10 selection. She was named first Team All-A-10 as a senior, leading the team with 24 points on the strength of nine goals and six assists.
Baker turns in his second Academic All-State honor of his career for the business administration major. He was named the men's Third-Year Academic Award winner for Spider Athletics, given to the junior male student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA. He was named Academic All-Atlantic 10 as a sophomore and played in five events this year in the shortened season.
Echternach picks up her first career Academic All-State honor. She was a leadership studies graduate and is in the Richmond Law School. She competed in six races in the cross country season as a senior, including a 21st place finish at the Spider Alumni Open.
Ziemba earns her first career Academic All-State honor as a biology major. She has persevered through injuries the past two seasons to own the top cumulative GPA among the women's lacrosse upperclassmen. She was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team her freshman year, scoring 16 points in her first six career games before suffering injuries.
