Francis, Gilyard, Golden Officially Withdraw From NBA Draft

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Guards Blake Francis and Jacob Gilyard, and forward Grant Golden have officially withdrawn from the 2020 NBA Draft and will return to Richmond for their final year of eligibility. With the return of Francis, Gilyard, and Golden, the Spiders are expected to return their top seven scorers from last year's team, which finished 24-7.
Â
"I'm elated that Blake, Grant, and Jacob had a chance to receive feedback from NBA personnel," said coach Chris Mooney. "I know that any enhancements they make to their games will make them even more valuable to our team this season and better prepared for their eventual professional careers. I couldn't be more excited to have ALL of our players back on campus and back on the court as soon as we can do so safely."
 Â
Francis, Gilyard, and Golden each earned All-Atlantic 10 honors last season after leading Richmond to a school-record 14 conference wins and a second-place finish in the A-10 regular-season standings, the Spiders best result since joining the conference in 2001.
Â
Gilyard will enter his senior season third on the Spiders all-time assists list with 468, 105 behind career record holder Greg Beckwith. Gilyard, whose 276 steals are already the most in program history, has a chance at breaking the Division I career steals mark, currently held by Providence's John Linehan with 385.
Â
Golden enters his senior season 15th in Spiders history with 1,472 total points. He needs 136 points (1,608) to enter Richmond's top 10 career scorers and 371 points (1,843) to enter the Spiders top five.
Â
Spider fans who wish to be a part of the 2020-21 campaign can now place a deposit on season tickets and lock in their Robins Center seats for the season.
