Queally Athletics Center Construction Enters Final Phase

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- One of the few things that hasn't required an adjustment or alteration on the University of Richmond campus over the last five months is the timeline for completion of the Queally Athletics Center, the new home of Spider basketball. The facility is expected to open this fall, and work has begun on the building's interior, which will feature two practice courts, locker rooms for the men's and women's teams, strength and conditioning areas, athletic training facilities, a hydrotherapy room, and more.Â
Last week, workers started to install the floor of the Spiders practice court, which will feature a regulation court, two half courts, six permanent baskets, and a viewing room next to the court for instant review of practice video. Below, you can see progress over the first few days.Â
In addition to the Queally Athletic Center, work is also nearing its end on Millhiser Gymnasium, which has been totally revamped to house the Student-Athlete Development Center and basketball coaches' offices, and the Student Well-Being Center, which will house the Student Health Center, Counseling and Psychological Services, and have rooms for wellness classes and other functions.
The final weeks of work on the three facilities are being live-streamed from a camera on top of the Weinstein International Center and can be viewed here and on the Queally Athletics Center page on the Richmond Athletics website.Â
