Spiders 22nd in Blue Ribbon College Basketball's Preseason Top 25

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook, one of the premier preseason college basketball publications, placed the Spiders at number 22 in their preseason top 25 rankings, which were released on Thursday. The Spiders are the only Atlantic 10 team in the rankings and one of just three mid-major programs, along with Gonzaga (#1) and Houston (#25).

Richmond returns all five starters and 96 percent of its scoring from last year's team which finished 24-7, matching the school record for wins in the regular season. The Spiders finished second in the Atlantic 10 with a 14-4 conference record, the most conference wins in program history. In addition to a quintet of senior starters, the Spiders roster features four 1,000-point scorers, among them number 15 (Grant Golden), number 29 (Jacob Gilyard), and number 33 (Nick Sherod) on Richmond's career scoring list.

The Spiders have also received preseason top-25 rankings from several media outlets, among them Stadium (#14), NBC Sports (#24), and The Mercury News (+13).
