Women's Tennis Completes Day One at Jimmy Powell Invitational

ELON, N.C. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team wrapped up day one at the Jimmy Powell Invitational hosted by Elon with five doubles wins through two rounds of competition.
In addition to Richmond and Elon, UNC Greensboro and Coastal Carolina are also participating in the tournament. The doubles matches are pro-style eight-game sets, and the Spiders swept their round against UNCG before taking two of three from Elon.
Round One Doubles

Round Two Doubles
Sibel Tanik/Lizette Reding (Elon) def. Emily Dunbar/Sara Salemyr (UR), 8-7(3)
Marta Buendia/Helene Heiberg (UR) def. Julie Ball/Olivia Archer (Elon), 8-7(4)
Carly Cohen/Polina Shitikova (UR) def. Shauna Galvin/Sarah Allen (Elon), 8-3
The Spiders return to the court tomorrow morning for day two of the Jimmy Powell Invitational, starting with the third round of doubles at 9 a.m. followed by singles.
