RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond women's basketball head coach Aaron Roussell and his staff have announced the signing of four to their 2022 class. Maggie Doogan, Jada Green Torin Rogers, and Rachel Ullstrom have each signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Spiders program.
"We are incredibly excited about the four student-athletes we have joining our program, department, and university. Each of them will make a great impact on the court and help take Richmond Women's Basketball to an even higher level. I love the versatility that each will bring, as they will be able to play and guard multiple spots on the floor. We wanted to increase our firepower, athleticism, and shooting ability while still adding size to our roster, and I believe we did just that with this group," said Coach Roussell.
"I also love that each of them has been a part of very successful programs with incredible coaches before entering Richmond. They are used to having success and the dedication it requires which will also give our program a boost," Coach Roussell added. "I want to give a ton of credit to our amazing staff for their efforts in assembling this class. Their hard work and welcoming personalities are a huge reason why it was so enticing for these four to decide to become a part of the Spider family.
Maggie Doogan | 6-2 | Forward | Broomall, Pa. (Cardinal O'Hara High School)
In her junior campaign, Maggie Doogan averaged 14 points per game alongside seven rebounds per game en route to helping Cardinal O'Hara to a PIAA 5A State Championship title. Doogan was named 2021 Delaware County Daily Times Player of the Year.
A dual-sport athlete (volleyball), Doogan also capped her junior basketball season with 5A First-Team All-State and All-Catholic First-Team honors.
"Maggie comes from a very successful basketball family, and you can see that in all she does. She shoots the ball incredibly well as a post player and finishes very well at the basket as well. We have had some very accomplished players built like Maggie succeed for us in the past, and she has all the makings of being the next one in that mold," said Coach Roussell.
Jada Green | 6-1 | Forward | Parkland, Fla. (St. Thomas Aquinas High School)
A 2021 Florida 6A State Champion, Jada Green led her team on the boards her junior season as she averaged 9.3 rebounds per game. She also averaged 10 points per game that season.
Green was recognized for her efforts during her junior campaign by being named to the Broward All-County 6A Second-Team as well as a USA Today High School Sports Southeast Florida Nominee. She also earned All-County Honorable Mention honors her freshman and sophomore year.
"Jada is a strong player that will create a lot of matchup problems for teams that we face. She can be interchangeable at a lot of different spots in our offense. She is ready to impact the Atlantic 10 now, and she has only begun to scratch the surface of what I think she will become for us down the road," said Coach Roussell.
Torin Rogers | 6-1 | Guard | Brasstown, N.C. (Murphy High School)
Torin Rogers is a three-time All-Conference honoree, including being named the 2020 Smoky Mountain Conference Player of the Year. She is a two-time state champion and a two-time Regional Athlete of the Year in a Major Sport.
Rogers averaged 25 points per game her junior year and is a member of the 1,000-point club at Murphy High School. She also averaged eight rebounds, 4.2 assists, and three steals per game her junior year. As a dual-sport athlete, Rogers was also a goalkeeper for the soccer team.
"Torin has all the tools to be an impact player in the A-10. She is a utility player that can play and guard every position on the floor with a motor that does not stop. She can score at all three levels, and has a great sense of the game that also makes her teammates better," said Coach Roussell.
Rachel Ullstrom | 6-1 | Guard | Auburn, Mass. (Marianapolis Prep)
Rachel Ullstrom has played her way into the record books at Marianapolis Prep, holding the record for highest 3-point percentage in a season (43.7%), and most 3-pointers in a single game as she hit 10 beyond the arc on two different occasions.
A four-time team captain, Ullstrom had a standout sophomore season (did not play a junior season due to COVID-19) that was capped off by Most Valuable Player honors. That season, she averaged 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals per game.
"Rachel is a lights-out shooter with one of the sweetest and most pure shots you will find. To find that with someone at her size and length is a luxury, but it is also not her only strength as she is a well-rounded overall player that can be a factor in every other facet of the game," said Coach Roussell.
