02/01/2021 | Men's Golf
RICHMOND, Va. -- The Richmond men's golf team announced its spring schedule on Monday. The Spiders will open their season February 14th with a match vs Radford at Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Va. It will be Richmond's first competition in 11 months after COVID-19 forced the cancelation of remainder of the 2019-20 season last March.Â
The Spiders will then head to Mid Pines Golf Club to participate in the Mid Pines Intercollegiate on March 8-9 before playing in the William & Mary Intercollegiate at the Golden Horseshore in Williamsburg, Va. on March 29-30.Â
On April 2-3, Richmond will compete in the Irish Creek Collegiate at the Irish Creek Club in Kannapolis, N.C.. Richmond competed at Irish Creek in 2019 and was scheduled to return in 2020 before the onset of COVID-19.Â
The Spiders season is currently scheduled to conclude with the 2021 Atlantic 10 Championship at the Reunion Resort and Golf Club in Orlando, Fla., the new home of the A-10 Championship following four years at Grand Cypress.Â
This spring will mark head coach Adam Decker's 16th season with the Spiders. Decker, a three-time Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, helms a roster that features junior Michael Childress, who led the team with a 74.00 stroke average in 2019-20, and sophomore Lou Baker, who recorded a team-high nine rounds under par in last year's shortened season, the most by any Spider since 2016-17.Â
