Cross Country Set for Atlantic 10 Championships

RICHMOND, Va. – The Spider men's and women's cross country teams return to the friendly confines of Pole Green Park for the Atlantic 10 Championships Friday morning. This is the second time in the last three seasons that the Spiders are hosting the conference meet at Pole Green Park. This will be the third race of the Spiders' spring season, all of which have been held at Pole Green.
The Spider women will take off in the 5-kilometer race at 10 a.m. Friday morning. After each of her first two collegiate races, Elizabeth Stockman (Rocky Hill, Conn.) has earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors, finishing third at the Winter Cross Country Invite to open the year, and fifth at the Spider/Patriot Cross Country Classic. She improved her time 15 seconds in the two-week period, and was the top Atlantic 10 freshman finisher in each race.
Joining Stockman in hopes of bringing the Atlantic 10 Championship back to Richmond are sophomore Lily Snow (Richmond, Va.), Caroline Robelen (Glen Allen, Va.), Manon Stephen (Basking Ridge, N.J.) and Kate Dickow (Lititz, Pa.). Snow was the second and third Spider finisher in the first two races of the season. Robelen improved her time by nearly 40 seconds from the first race to the second of the season. Stephen has been an improving rookie, finishing her first collegiate race at 18:50.7 before improving to 18:36.6 two weeks ago. Dickow was one of the Spiders top runners a year ago, finishing with a spot on the Atlantic 10 Rookie All-Conference team.
Stuart Terrill (Crozet, Va.) and Peter Borger (Malvern, Pa.) have been the top two Spider contributors in the first two races this season. Terrill earned A-10 Rookie of the Week honors after his performance at the Richmond Winter Cross Country Classic, finishing 16 seconds faster than the next closest competitor. Borger was the top Spider finisher at the Patriot/Spider Cross Country Classic, finishing in 24:46.9, 15 seconds faster than his time in the previous race.
Noah Yuro (Howell, N.J.) has been another consistent contributor for the Spiders this spring. Yuro finished the Winter Cross Country Invitational third overall, and 25th overall in the next race. Other point scorers for the men's team this spring have been Noah Campbell (Montpelier, Va.), James Quinn (Nutley, N.J.) and Patrick Sutphin (Mechanicsville, Va.).
The top 15 finishers in the men's and women's race will earn All Atlantic 10 honors.
