Women’s Track Heads to Williamsburg for 55th Colonial Relays

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's track team is headed to Williamsburg, Va., to compete in the 55th Colonial Relays, hosted by William & Mary at Zable Stadium, Friday and Saturday, April 2nd and 3rd.

The Spiders are sending 23 student-athletes to Williamsburg to compete over the two-day meet. A meet that traditionally hosts over 40-50 different schools, this year's Colonial Relays will only have 13 women's teams and 12 men's teams in action. Richmond will compete alongside student-athletes from American, Buffalo, Christopher Newport, George Mason, James Madison (women only), Lynchburg, UMass Lowell, Stony Brook, VCU, VMI, Washington & Lee, William & Mary
Five different Spiders are set to compete three different events. Junior Tamar Accius (Jacksonville, Fla.) will race in the 100m, as well as participate in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Junior Tania Matthews (North Chesterfield, Va.) and sophomore Kamryn Ross (Richmond, Va.) will both represent 100-meter hurdles, 100m and the 4x100m relay. Junior Kayla Woods (Wilmington, Del.) is set to compete in the long jump and both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Sophomore Maddie Orr (Rumson, N.J) will race in the 200m, 400m, and 4x400m.
Seven Spiders are scheduled to race in two events. Maria Acosta (Maywood, N.J.) will race in the 400m and 800m, while Rachel Helbling (McDonald, Pa.) will line up for the 200m and 400m. Sallie Cook (Winston-Salem, N.C.), Kate McAndrew (Denville, N.J.), Kayla O'Connell (Marshfield, Mass.) and Kendra Smither (Richmond, Va.) will all compete in the 800m and 1500m. Zenia Vrakas (Pefka, Thessaloniki, Greece) is set to race in the 100m hurdles and 200m.
Gabrielle Beneducci (Hampton, N.J.), Oona Elovaara (Richmond, Va.) and Amaya Jackson (Richmond, Va.) will race in the 400m hurdles, while Grace Mittl (Bethlehem, Pa.) will line up for the 200m. Rebecca Fagan (Glen Allen, Va.), Caroline Robelen (Glen Allen, Va.) and Madison Trippett (Parkersburg, W.Va.) are set to race in the 5K. Kathryn Shea (Hartford, Conn.) and Elizabeth Stockman (Rocky Hill, Conn.) will go in the 1500m. Rebekah Greene (Henrico, Va.) will compete in the long jump.
