Lanchbury and Rusbuldt Named SoCon Players of the Month

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond men's lacrosse senior attack Ryan Lanchbury (Burlington, Ontario) and graduate goalie Jack Rusbuldt (Richmond, Va.) have been named Southern Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Month of March respectively, the league office announced Monday.
This marks the first time since 2017 a Spider has won a monthly award and the first time since February of 2017 sweeping the awards. Lanchbury and Rusbuldt led the Spiders to a 3-1 record in the month of March, including a 3-0 start in SoCon play.
Lanchbury scored 30 points in the four games in March, tallying 13 goals and dishing out 17 assists. In his three SoCon games, Lanchbury scored 10 goals and dished out 16 assists as the Spiders opened the season with a three-game winning streak.
Lanchbury posted three or more goals in all four games, beginning the month with three goals and an assist against No. 1 Duke. He followed that up with four goals and three assists against VMI in the SoCon opener. He set the SoCon single-game record with 12 points against Bellarmine, including a league-record nine assists in the game earning himself SoCon Offensive Player of the Week honors. He capped the month with three goals and four assists in the Spiders' defeat of High Point.
Rusbuldt posted a 3-1 decision in goal with his lone loss coming against No. 1 Duke. Rusbuldt picked up wins over VMI, Bellarmine and High Point. He posed 33 saves on the month and owned a 9.16 goals against average. Against High Point, he limited the high-flying Panthers to just 10 goals – their second lowest total of the year while making 13 saves.
The Spiders return to SoCon action Sunday when they travel to Macon, Ga., for a meeting with Mercer. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
