RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond graduate attack Ryan Lanchbury (Burlington, Ontario) has been named preseason Honorable Mention All-America by Inside Lacrosse. Lanchbury is one of two from the Southern Conference chosen on the preseason team, being joined by Asher Nolting from High Point.
Lanchbury was an All-America selection after the season last spring and was the first Spider in program history named SoCon Offensive Player of the Year. He ranked second in the SoCon in scoring with 67 points in 13 games, scoring 28 goals and dishing out 39 assists. In SoCon play only, Lanchbury leads all scorers with 44 total points, 11 more than any other player, averaging 7.33 points per game in the six contests, which is a league record and more than a point better than any out player in league history.
Lanchbury's 67 points ranked third all-time in a single-season in program history, trailing only his and Teddy Hatfield's 72-point seasons both coming in 2019. He set a program-record with 5.15 points per game last spring, scoring his 67 points in just 13 games. Additionally, his 39 assists were the most in a single season in program history while averaging a record 3.0 assists per game.
The two-time SoCon Offensive Player of the Week, Lanchbury is second all-time in program history with 212 points, 122 goals and 90 assists in his career. He was named Honorable Mention All-America by Inside Lacrosse in May.
