Richmond Falls in Season Opener at No. 7 UVA

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team opened the season Saturday afternoon at No. 7 University of Virginia. The Spiders (0-1) fell 7-0 to the Cavaliers (2-0).
After the Spiders dropped their first two doubles matches 6-1, the duo of Alex Wernink and Sebastian Miano battled for a 6-3 loss to wrap up doubles action on the day.
The Spiders fell in straight sets in their first four doubles matches, but it would take a tiebreaker on court five for Alexander Kiefer to defeat Miano in straight sets. Kiefer took the tiebreaker 7-2 to secure the match 6-1, 7-6.
Daniel Kliebhan and John Walsh each took the first set of their match before dropping the next two. Kliebhan was ahead 4-2 in his third set, but No. 71 Bar Botzer was able to come back and take the set 6-4.
