Richmond, Va. — The University of Richmond football team took home two Colonial Athletic Association Football Player of the Week honors, with Marlem Louis (Venice, Fla.) being named defensive player of the week, while Jake Larson (Baltimore, Md.) took home the special teams honor.
Louis recorded six tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and two quarterback hurries in Richmond's 21-13 victory at No. 17/21 Delaware. The defensive end forced two fumbles on a pair of second-quarter sacks, including one that stopped a drive at the Spiders' 30-yard line. He was a part of a Spiders' defense that limited the Blue Hens to their second-fewest points of the year.
Larson connected on three field goals, including a game-winning 39-yarder with four seconds to play in his first action since Oct. 1. He also hit field goals of 46 and a season-best 48 yards in the game.
This is the fifth and sixth Player of the Week honor for Richmond this season. Reece Udinski was named Offensive Player of the Week after the Stony Brook and New Hampshire game, Andrew Lopez (New Orleans, La.) earned Special Teams Player of the Week after his performance against Villanova, and Jeremiah Grant (South Orange, N.J.) took home the honor after the Hampton game, giving Richmond a CAA Player of the Week award in the last four weeks.
Up next, the Spiders return home to take on William & Mary on Saturday, Nov. 19. Along with the Capital Cup presented by C&F Bank being up for grabs, the game will decide the automatic qualifier out of the CAA for the NCAA FCS playoffs. Kickoff is set for noon in Robins Stadium.
