Reece Udinski Named Walter Payton Award Finalists

Richmond, Va.— Stats Perform has announced 30 FCS finalists for the 2022 Walter Payton Award, which is annually presented to the national offensive player of the year in college football's Division I subdivision with Reece Udinski named as one of 11 quarterbacks on the list.

Named to the award's preseason watch list, Udinski has gone 329-445 (73.9%) this season with his completions per game (29.91) tying for first in the country and his completion percentage (.739) ranking second.

His 3,152 passing yards rank sixth this season while he's thrown 24 touchdown passes and has ran in four on his own.

He is second among all active quarterbacks with 11,012 passing yards and fourth in total offense with 10,759 yards.

He has thrown for 3,152 yards so far this season, becoming just the third Spider to eclipse the 3,000 passing yards mark in a single season.

A national media panel will select the Payton Award winner, with voting based on the regular season. The recipient will be announced at the FCS National Awards banquet on Jan. 7 in Frisco, Texas – on the eve of the national championship game.
