Burton named A-10 Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond Spiders senior Tyler Burton has been named the Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. Burton scored a game-high 29 points in Richmond's 81-71 win vs Bucknell on December 21 and set a program record by shooting 6-6 from three-point range.
This is Burton's fourth career A-10 Player of the Week Award and first since he was honored on February 7, 2022 following his 36-point effort in a win vs St. Bonaventure. Burton was also named the A-10's Player of the Week on December 20, 2021 and December 14, 2020.
Last Wednesday vs the Bison, Burton led the Spiders in points (29) and rebounds (5) while adding three assists and one steal as Richmond defeated Bucknell to improve to 5-1 at home this season. Burton made all six of three-point attempts, becoming the first player in program history to shoot 6-6 or better from the three-point line in a game.
Burton currently ranks second in the A-10 in scoring at 18.9 points per game and is third in the league in rebounding, with 7.9 rebounds per game. Burton and the Spiders will host Coppin State Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 PM and the game will be streamed on ESPN Plus and televised regionally on WTVR-TV CBS 6.
