Reece Udinski Named 2022 Dudley Award Finalist
12/05/2022 | Football
Richmond, Va. – University of Richmond quarterback Reece Udinski (North Wales, Pa.) has been named a finalist for the 2022 Dudley Award.
Presented annually by the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the award is given each year to the best college football player in Virginia.
Playing at both VMI and Maryland before Richmond, Udinski has put up impressive numbers in his collegiate career.
He ends his career ranked second among all current FCS quarterbacks with 11,474 passing yards and ranked first in the country in completions per game at 29.08 and second in completion percentage at 73.4 in his final season.
Udinski led Richmond to the third-highest total offense in the CAA at 424.1 yards per game and led the league in passing, going 378 of 515 for 3,614 yards and 29 touchdowns. He also ran in four on his own this season.
A First Team All-CAA quarterback, the graduate transfer rewrote the Richmond and FCS record book in his one and only season as a Spider.
Udinski is third all-time in season passing yards, becoming just the third Spider quarterback to throw for over 3,000 yards in a single season. He's first all-time in season attempts and his 58 from the Elon game rank second all-time, while his 42 completions from that day rank first all-time for any Spider.
His season completion percentage of 73.0 is the highest by a Spider, with the next closest being Michael Strauss' 66.3 percent from 2014.
Playing just one season for the Spiders, his 378 completions rank eighth all-time among Spiders on the career completions list.
He helped Richmond earn its first-ever playoff shutout victory with a 41-0 win against Davidson in the first round, connecting on 28 of 31 pass attempts for his highest completion percentage (90.3%) of the season. With his performance, he set the FCS playoffs single-game record for completion percentage.
The two other finalists for the award are William & Mary linebacker John Pius and James Madison quarterback Todd Centeio.
Voted on by a panel of media members, the Dudley Award will be presented on CBS 6 after Saturday's Army-Navy game, with the broadcast beginning at approximately 6:30 p.m.
