Ryan Lanchbury Named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week
02/22/2022 | Men's Lacrosse
RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond graduate attack Ryan Lanchbury (Burlington, Ontario) has been named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. Lanchbury led the Spiders to their first win of the season, a dominating 18-4 victory over visiting Marist last weekend.
Lanchbury was also named to the USILA National Team of the Week for his performance.
This marks the sixth weekly honor of Lanchbury's career, moving him into a tie for second all-time in league history with Asher Nolting (High Point). Former Spider Benny Pugh holds the league record with eight Player of the Week honors in his career.
Lanchbury became the Spiders and the SoCon's all-time leading goal scorer in the win over Marist, scoring four goals and adding two assists. His four goals raised his career total to 126 goals, surpassing the previous mark set by Teddy Hatfield of 123. He has now scored 221 points in his career – 126 goals and 95 assists – and sits second all-time in program history just five points shy of Hatfield's career mark of 226.
Lanchbury and the Spiders return to action Saturday on the road, travelling to Towson. Faceoff is set for noon and will be streamed for a fee on FloLive.
