Spiders Sweep Two Events, Record Season-Bests Saturday

Virginia Beach, Va.— The University of Richmond track and field program recorded sweeps in both the 3,000 and mile run as well as added five season-best marks at the 59th Annual Virginia Beach East Coast Invitational Saturday.

The Spiders took the top three spots in the 3,000 with Manon Stephen (Basking Ridge, N.J.) running a 10:54.99, Kathryn Shea (Hartford, Conn.) clocking a 10:56.67 and Caitlin O'Hare (Middletown, N.J.) a 11:14.05.

Laurel Kurtz (Flemington, N.J,.) ran a 5:15.07 for first in the mile, while Anna George (Montville, N.J.) ran a 5:19.67 and Ashley Minns (Massapequa Park, N.J.) clocked a 5:50.65 for season-best marks and another Spiders 1-3 sweep.

Aylin Bruce (Lexington, Mass.) (11th, 1:02.23), Maddie Orr (Rumson, N.J.) (14th 1:02.23), Amaya Jackson (Richmond, Va.) (15th, 1:02.23), Dylan Miller (19^th, 1:05.47) and Kyra Blakeslee (20^th, 1:05.43) all ran season-bests in the 400m dash. Blakeslee also added a 27.28 in the 200m dash, and Jackson ran a season-best 9.95 for 11th in the 60m dash.

Grace Mittl (Bethlehem, Pa.) finished eighth in the long jump with a season-best leap of 18-0.00 (5.49m). Morgan Crocker (Richmond, Va.) followed with a 17-0.00 (5.15m).
