Ryan Lanchbury Selected As Senior CLASS Award Candidate
03/14/2022 | Men's Lacrosse
RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond graduate men's lacrosse student-athlete Ryan Lanchbury (Burlington, Ontario) has been selected as one of the 20 candidates for the national 2022 Senior CLASS Award given to student-athletes who excel both on and off the field.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior or graduate student and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character, and competition.
Lanchbury has rewritten the Spider record books in his career. He holds the all-time program record for career points (243), goals (135) and assists (108), breaking all three records this year. He is a two-time Tewaaraton Award Watch List member given to the national player of the year in NCAA men's lacrosse. The 2021 Southern Conference Player of the Year is a two-time All-America selection in his career and leads the team in scoring this season with 31 points (13 g, 18 a) in six games.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
The 20 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists later in the season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.
The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced in conjunction with the 2022 NCAA Men's Lacrosse National Championship in May.
