Spiders Secure Sweep over Virginia Wesleyan

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Spiders bounced back Wednesday afternoon with a sweep over Virginia Wesleyan, defeating the Marlins 7-0 at the Westhampton Tennis Courts. With the win, Richmond improves to 7-6 this season.
All three Spider duos secured doubles wins, including John Walsh and Campbell Erwin who improved to 5-0 at the No. 1 spot.
In singles action, the Spiders took down their opponents in straight sets on courts three through six. Erwin moved up to the No. 2 singles spot and bounced back from a first-set loss to take his match 1-6, 6-1, 6-0 to improve to 2-1 at the No. 2 spot overall this season.
On court one, Walsh dropped the first set 7-6 but also bounced back, taking the second set 6-1 before securing the win with a 10-2 third-set tiebreaker.
Up next, the Spiders head to Philadelphia where they will face Atlantic 10 foes Fordham and Saint Joseph's back-to-back, respectively, on March 25 and March 26.
