Spiders in third at Kingsmill Spring Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Richmond Spiders women's golf team will enter Tuesday's final round at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate in third place in the field of 14 after totaling a team score of 618 (+42) in the first two rounds Monday.
The Spiders opened with a 300 (+12) in Round 1 to take an early lead and followed it up with a 318 (+30) in Round 2 in windy conditions at Kingsmill Resort.
A pair of Spiders are in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard, led by senior Emily Ward at 151 (+7), which is tied for sixth in the field. Ward played the par 3s in a combined 1-under par Monday, tied for best in the field.
Sophomore Rory Weinfurther is one shot back at 152 (+8), tied for 10th place. Weinfurther is seeking her sixth top-20 finish in seven full-field tournaments this season.
Junior Vicky Zhu is tied for 21st at 157 (+13) after shooting rounds of 75 and 82 Monday. Freshman Lauren Jones is two strokes behind in a tie for 29th at 159 (+15), while junior Kendall Miller is tied for 50th at 163 (+19).
As a team, the Spiders feasted on the par 5s on Kingsmill Resort's River Course Monday, combining to play them in 4-under par, three shots better than any other team in the field.
Tuesday's final round is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM with a shotgun start.
