04/29/2022 | Women's Track & Field
Richmond, Va.— The Spiders will get one final tune-up in this week ahead of next weekend's Atlantic 10 championships hosted by VCU on May 7 and 8.
Saturday will find the Spiders' 4x800 of Brooke Fazio, Rachel Helbling, Kate McAndrew and Kendra Smither at the Penn Relays Presented by Toyota. This is the 126th running of the premier east coast meet that was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic.
Also competing at the Penn Relays, Spider alumna Maria Acosta will run in the Olympic Development 800m race. Olympic Development events are designed for post-collegiate elite level athletes. The seeding committee used 2021 and 2022 performances in conjunction with World Athletics Event Rankings as guides in the selection process.
On Sunday, a group of Spiders is headed to the Virginia Grand Prix hosted by the University of Virginia.
Tamar Accius and Kyra Blakeslee are set for the 100- and 200m dashes.
Isabel Blaylock will run the 800m race as well as the 1,500m along with Lily Snow, who is also set for the 5,000.
Over the hurdles, Kamryn Ross is set for the 100m hurdles and Gabrielle Beneducci and Amaya Jackson will toe the line for the 400m hurdles.
In the pits, Grace Mittl, Kayla Woods and Morgan Crocker are entered in the long jump, with Crocker also triple jumping.
Finally, Maddie Orr, Accius, Woods and Ross will run in the 4x100.
