Spiders 4x800 Clocks New School Record at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA— The Richmond 4x800 of Kate McAndrew, Brooke Fazio, Kendra Smither and Rachel Helbling set a new program record in the Women's 4x800 Championship of America at Saturday's 126th running of the Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania's iconic Franklin Field.
The squad claimed sixth in an elite field with a time of 8:34.14, breaking the previous school record of 8:39.88 set by Smither, Maria Acosta, Kayla O'Connell and Fazio just last season. Yesterday, Spider alumna Acosta ran a 2:08.45 in the Olympic Development Women's 800m Elite race as she represented Puerto Rico.
A separate group of Spiders hits the track Sunday at the Virginia Grand Prix hosted by UVA.
