RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball program has announced the addition of graduate transfer Emilija Krista Grava, a 6-2 forward from Ligatne, Latvia. Krista Grava joins the Spiders from Wagner College where she was a four-year member of the Seahawks program.
"Emilija is a very accomplished college basketball player that will immediately provide help in the front court. She has already proven that she can score, defend, and rebound at this level," said head coach Aaron Roussell. "Measuring at 6-2 with a versatile skill set, Emilija possesses a great combination for our offense, and her athleticism will improve us on both ends of the floor. We look forward to developing her game as she helps to move us ahead in the Atlantic 10."
Krista Grava is a three-time All-Northeast Conference First Team selection, becoming the first player in Wagner's program history to garner those honors three years in a row. She was named to the Metropolitan Basketball Writer's Association Second Team in 2020-21 and Third Team in 2019-20 and 2021-22.
In four years as a Seahawk, Krista Grava played in 96 games with 90 starts and averaged 13.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. She is Wagner's 12th all-time leading scorer with 1,311 career points.
Krista Grava finished her senior campaign as the team's leading scorer, pouring in 13.0 points per game while starting in 27 of 29 contests. During the regular season, she finished third in the league in scoring while converting on 44.3 percent from the floor. She also led the Seahawks in scoring with 14.1 points per game her junior year while shooting a team-high 46.5 percent from the field that season.
Prior to Wagner, Krista Grava competed at forward for Liepajas Papirs/LSSS during the 2017-18 season. In 36 games, she averaged 7.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game while averaging 22.5 minutes per game. She led her team to a second-place finish in both the Latvian-Estonian league and the Latvian Championship.
