Lanchbury and Vigue Named SoCon Players of the Month

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond graduate attack Ryan Lanchbury (Burlington, Ontario) and redshirt freshman goalie Zach Vigue (Apex, N.C.) have been named Southern Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Month, respectively, for April. Lanchbury and Vigue led the Spiders to a 4-1 record in the month of April, including the highest ranked win in program history over No. 2 Virginia.

This marks the second monthly award of Lanchbury's career (March, 2021). He led the team with 31 points in five games, scoring 20 goals and added 11 assists. He scored three or more goals in all five games in April, including a high of five goals in the Spiders' regular season win over High Point. He tallied four goals in the victory over the Cavaliers while adding four against No. 12 Jacksonville.

Vigue picks up his first career monthly award and the Spiders' first defensive player of the month honor since Jack Rusbuldt won back-to-back honors in February and March of 2021. He posted a 4-1 record in the month and a 10.67 goals against average. He recorded 69 saves on the month with a .570 save percentage. He tallied 16 saves in the victory over Virginia and posted a career-high 19 saves over High Point, earning SoCon Defensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts.

The Spiders will play for the Southern Conference Tournament championship Saturday afternoon against top-seeded Jacksonville. The game will be played at Vert Stadium in High Point, N.C., with a noon faceoff and be aired on ESPN Plus.
