Men’s Lacrosse Draws No. 3 Penn in NCAA Tournament

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's lacrosse program returns to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in program history and the first time since 2019 as the Spiders head to Philadelphia taking on third-seeded University of Pennsylvania.
The Southern Conference Tournament champion Spiders match up with the Ivy League champion Penn Quakers Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Penn Park. The game will air nationally on ESPNU.
Richmond earned the automatic bid into the NCA Tournament courtesy of a 10-9 victory over No. 9 Jacksonville Saturday afternoon at Vert Stadium in High Point in the SoCon Championship, its fifth-straight win entering the NCAA Tournament.
Richmond is officially one 18 teams with the opportunity to compete for a national championship when the tournament gets underway with two play in games this week. The First Round is set to take place May 14-15 and the Quarterfinals May 21-22. The National Semifinals will be held May 28 and the National Championship will be May 30 at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn.
The Spiders will be making their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance since the program's inception in 2014. Richmond made the NCAA Tournament in 2014, 2018 and 2019. The Spiders played in the play-in game in 2014 at Air Force, played at second-seeded UAlbany in 2018 and at second-seeded Duke in 2019.
