07/01/2022 | Women's Golf
RICHMOND, Va. -- Spiders sophomore Rory Weinfurther has been named to the association of Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State Women's Golf Team, the organization announced  Friday. Weinfurther, a Second Team All-State selection, is the fourth golfer in program history to earn All-State honors and the first since Annie Collom in 2019.Â
Weinfurther appeared in all 10 events for Richmond last season, posting a 75.25 stroke average, best on the team and third-lowest in a season in program history. She finished in the top 10 in four events and in the top 20 in eight events. She recorded a season-best runner-up finish at the 2022 Patriot League Championship, earning First Team All-Patriot League honors. Weinfurther ended the season with a career scoring average of 75.59, the lowest for any Spiders golfer ever to appear in at least 15 events.Â
Weinfurther joins Collom (2019 - Second Team), Elsa Diaz (2015 - Second Team), and Tracy Martin (2013 - First Team) as the only Richmond women's golfers to land on VaSID's All-State Team, which is voted on by sports media relations professionals associated with a university or conference in Virginia.Â
