Lydic snags second straight Patriot League Golfer of the Week award
09/21/2022 | Women's Golf
RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond freshman Hannah Lydic has been named the Patriot League Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. Lydic finished second among the 93 competitors at last week's Nittany Lion Invitational in State College, Pa. after shooting a 3-under 213, the second-lowest tournament score in Richmond history. This is Lydic's second straight weekly Patriot League honor.Â
After opening with a 74 (+2) on Penn State's Blue Course, Lydic carded a 71 (-1) in Round 2 and followed it with a 68 (-4) in Round 3, tied for the third-lowest single-round score in program history. Lydic, who finished four shots behind winner Amelia Lee of Toledo, has now recorded the lowest (an 11-under 205 at her season-opening win at the William & Mary Fall Invitational) and second-lowest tournament scores ever at Richmond in her two career starts. Despite having played just six career rounds, she already owns three of the 15 sub-70 rounds in program history. She is also the first Spider to ever record a win and runner-up finish in her first two college events.
Lydic and the Spiders placed fifth at the 16-team Nittany Lion Invitational after tying for first at the William & Mary Fall Invitational on September 13. 2022 is the first year the Spiders have finished in the top five in their first two tournaments since 2017, when UR won its first three events of the year.
Richmond will conclude its fall competition season this weekend at The Lady Paladin, hosted by Furman University. The 54-hole event will be contested on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with tee times beginning at 9:00 AM each day.Â
