GREENVILLE, S.C. -- One day after struggling at the Furman Golf Club, the Spiders were one of the hottest teams on the course during Round 2 of The Lady Paladin Invitational Saturday. The Spiders combined for a team score of 295 (+7) in the second round, a 16-shot improvement from their Friday showing and tied for the sixth-best score among the 18 teams in the field. By the end of the round, Richmond had moved up six spots on the team leaderboard. Through 36 holes, the Spiders are tied for 12th in the field with Florida Atlantic and Florida Gulf Coast.Â
Sophomore Lauren Jones led the Spiders with a 1-over 73, her best round since last October's Lady Blue Hen Invitational. A trio of Spiders shot 74 (+2): junior Rory Weinfurther and freshmen Hannah Lydic and Olivia Wilkie. Weinfurther is tied for 24th on the individual leaderboard at 148 (+4), best of any Spider. Jones is three shots back at 151 (+7), tied for 34th. Wilkie, whose 74 Friday was the lowest round of her short Spiders career, is tied for 45th at 152 (+8). Lydic is at 155, tied for 68th. Senior Kendall Miller, whose 79 (+7) Friday was an eight-shot improvement from Saturday, is tied for 91st at 166 (+22).Â
The Spiders have totaled 25 birdies through two rounds, tied for third-most in the field.Â
Richmond will begin the final round with a shotgun start at 9:00 AM Sunday.Â
