Udinski Earns Two FCS National Player of the Week Honors
09/25/2022 | Football
Richmond, Va. — Reece Udinski (North Wales, Pa.) came alive Saturday en route to earning NCAA FCS National Player of the Week and College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) FCS National Performer of the Week.
The quarterback threw for 357 yards, going 35-42 for an 83.3 completion percentage in less than three quarters of action at Robins Stadium. The graduate transfer threw nearly as many touchdowns (5) as incompletions (7) during Richmond's 51-7 victory over CAA foe Stony Brook.
The NCAA FCS Player of the Week was announced Monday afternoon via NCAA FCS social media channels.
The CFPA was created in 2009 to provide the most scientifically-rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
Honorable mentions for CFPA FCS National Performer of the Week for week four include Mark Gronowski (QB, South Dakota State), Fotis Kokosioulis (WR, Fordham), Nic Baker (QB, Southern Illinois) and Tim DeMorat (QB, Fordham).
Udinski is the first Richmond player to be named CFPA FCS National Performer of the Week since Kyle Lauletta earned the honor during week three of the 2017 season. Ironically enough, his five touchdown passes are the most from a Spider since Lauletta threw six against Howard during week three of 2017 season to earn the honor himself.
Udinski and the Spiders will look to go 2-0 in CAA play when they travel to Elon this Saturday, Oct. 3. Game time is set for 2 p.m. at Rhodes Stadium.
