Doogan Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The University of Richmond Women's Basketball team has the honor of highlighting freshman forward Maggie Doogan as this week's Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office Monday. This is Doogan's first Rookie of the Week honor and the team's first since Rachel Ullstrom captured the honor on Dec. 12, 2022.
Doogan, a native of Broomall, Pa., recorded back-to-back double-doubles this past week while averaging 15.5 points per game and 12.5 rebounds per game. In the game against Rhode Island last Wednesday, she recorded a team-high 13 points and a career-high 13 rebounds in addition to three assists.
The freshman had an outstanding game in her first career start in the 73-58 Spider win against George Mason on Saturday. In the game, she led the team with a career-high 18 points and 12 rebounds in addition to three blocks and an assist. She also recorded a career-high five field goals, a career-high two three-pointers, a career-high six free throws and a career-high three blocks.
Doogan and the Spider Women's Basketball team are back in action Wednesday, taking on Fordham at 7 p.m. in New York, N.Y., before playing host to Saint Joseph's on Jan. 29 for the Play4Kay/ National Girls and Women In Sports Day Celebration Presented by CarMax game slated for 4 p.m.
