Football Ranked No. 11, 12 in Final Polls

Richmond, Va. – The University of Richmond football team was ranked No. 11 in the final Stats Perform FCS Media Poll and No. 12 in the final AFCA Coaches Poll, released Monday.
2022 saw the Spiders reach the FCS playoffs for the first time since 2016 and earn the program's first shutout playoff victory with a 41-0 win over Davidson in the first round. 11 Spiders were named All-CAA, while Tristan Wheeler (Bethlehem, Pa.) and Ryan Coll (Gainesville, Va.) were named All-Americans.
The Spiders ended 2022 ranked in the top 10 nationally in six key statistical categories including second in completion percentage (.732), fifth in first downs (314), seventh in scoring defense (20.1), ninth in fewest penalties per game (4.15) and 10th in punt return defense (20.1).
It's the highest final ranking for the Spiders since the team was No. 8 at the end of the 2016 season. During the regular season, the team climbed the national rankings as high as No. 11 in both polls after taking down Delaware week nine.
