Cross Country Heads to NCAA Southeast Regionals

Spartanburg, S.C. - The University of Richmond cross country program prepares to travel to Spartanburg, S.C. where select athletes from both the men's and women's groups will compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional. The women's 6K is set to take off at 11:00 am, while the men's 10K is slated to begin at noon.
The meet will be held at the Roger Milliken Center as South Carolina Upstate sets to host 42 different programs. Find the full participant list here.Â
The top two teams and the first four finishers in the race not associated with those two teams will advance to the NCAA Championships, held Nov. 18 in Charlottesville, Va.Â
Last year's regional saw both squads finish in the middle of the pack among the east's best. The women took 17th out of 32 and the men took 22nd of 32. Madison Trippett ran a 22:06.6 for 90th to pace the Spider women and Peter Borger led the men, finishing at 31:38.0 for 81st place.Â
Last time out, the Spiders traveled to Dayton, OH to compete in the Atlantic 10 Championships. The women grabbed the third place finish in the 6K as the men took tenth in the 8K. Elizabeth Stockman (21:06.66) and Madison Trippett (21:09.38) took back-to-back finishes at fourth and fifth place, leading the Richmond women's squad. Jordan Bendura led the Spider men as he finished at 24:56.90, claiming the thirty-sixth spot.Â
