Sweeney Tabbed A-10 Rookie of the Week

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of Richmond Women's Basketball team has the honor of highlighting freshman Ally Sweeney as this week's Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday. The Rookie of the Week honor is the first weekly honor for Sweeney, and the team's first weekly rookie award since last season (Maggie Doogan, 1/30/23).
Sweeney, a native of Sparta, N.J., had a standout game in the 99-73 Spider win over Liberty this past Saturday and helped Richmond remain undefeated at home this season (5-0). In the game, she recorded a career-high 11 points on a perfect 4 of 4 from the field and 2 of 2 from beyond the arc in addition to a free throw and an assist.
The Spiders will look to round out nonconference play this week as the team takes on Michigan State on Dec. 20 at 9:30 p.m. and either Chattanooga or Coastal Carolina on Dec. 21 at the Cherokee Invitational in Cherokee, N.C.
