Spiders Roll Past Le Moyne Sunday Afternoon

RICHMOND, Va. – Behind Maggie Doogan's eighth-straight game in double figures, the University of Richmond Women's Basketball team returned to winning fashion with a 69-40 victory over the visiting Dolphins Sunday afternoon inside the Robins Center. With the win, the Spiders improved to 7-2 on the year while Le Moyne fell to 1-6.

How it Happened
The Spiders wasted no time getting on the board as Katie Hill netted a three pointer to put the Spiders ahead 3-0. After the Dolphins put up their first few points, Doogan posted eight points over two minutes to push the Spider lead to 11-5 with 4:54 left in the first 10 minutes. Hill and Addie Budnik combined for five points to finish the quarter with a 16-7 Spider lead.
In the second quarter, both teams got shots off before the Spiders went on a 13-0 run sparked by Siobhan Ryan for a 31-13 Spider advantage. The Dolphins would get a final trey off and Ally Sweeney would post her first collegiate points as time expired to send UR into the locker room up 34-15.
Budnik continued the scoring offense out of the break, netting a wide-open layup 57 seconds into the third quarter. The Dolphins quickly responded with a trey of their own, sparking a 8-0 run from the opposition to cut the deficit to 13, 36-23. Budnik, with another layup, then sparked a 7-0 run for Richmond to push its lead to 20, 43-23. After a couple of buckets from the Dolphins, the Spiders went on another 7-0 run courtesy of efforts by Doogan, Laren VanArsdale and Rachel Ullstrom to put the Spiders ahead 51-28 with 1:31 left in the quarter. Grace Townsend and Hill would record the final three points in the quarter as the team went in to the final 10 minutes up 54-32.
In the fourth, the Spiders opened with an 11-0 run to amass a 32-point lead, 67-35, before Le Moyne ended the scoring drought with a mid-range jumper with 6:14 left in the game. After LMC completed the hoop-and-harm, Ullstrom recorded a layup on the fastbreak for a 69-40 Spider lead. Sweeney, Courtney Swider and Laren VanArsdale all took shots, but couldn't push the UR lead as Richmond took the game 69-40.

- As a team, the Spiders shot 23 of 52 (44.2%) from the field, 9 of 28 (32.1%) from deep and 14 of 17 (82.4%) from the free throw line. In addition, the team also posted 40 rebounds, 13 assists, nine blocks and 16 points off 15 Dolphin turnovers. The Spider bench also posted 20 points, led by Kylee Lewandowski (eight points).
