Wiley Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The University of Richmond Men's Tennis team has the honor of highlighting freshman Davis Wiley as this week's A-10 Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office Wednesday. This is Wiley's first career weekly honor as a Spider.
Wiley, a native of Arlington, Va., helped the Spiders go 2-0 over this past weekend, picking up huge wins over Methodist on Friday, 7-0 and another 7-0 win over Hampton on Sunday.
In the match against Methodist, the freshman, alongside junior Sebastian Miano, posted a 6-2 win over Wills Belser/ Cameron Roth (MU) on doubles court two and then had a dominating showing against Wills Belser (MU), 6-1, 6-0, on singles court two.
Against Hampton, Wiley/Miano defeated Donte Armbrister/Emiliano Jorquera (HU) 6-1 on court three and then went on to defeat Daniel Flynn (HU) 6-2, 7-6, on singles court three.
The Spiders are back in action Thursday, playing host to James Madison at 2 p.m. at the Westhampton Tennis Complex before hosting a doubleheader against Virginia Wesleyan on Mar. 4 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
