04/22/2023 | Women's Golf
MIDLOTHIAN, Va. — Rain, thunder, and lightning forced the suspension of play during Round 2 of the Patriot League Women's Golf Championship Saturday at Independence Golf Club. Play was stopped at 12:28 p.m., with 10 of the 12 pairings still on the course and the final pairing on the 12th fairway. Round 2 will resume Sunday at 8:30 a.m. with players continuing with the third and final round immediately after completing Round 2.
The Richmond Spiders are five strokes over par, 11 strokes in front of defending champion Boston. Lehigh is one stroke further back at 17 over par. Navy (+23), Bucknell (+29), and Holy Cross (+57) round out the leaderboard.
On the individual leaderboard, Spiders junior Rory Weinfurther, the 2021 Patriot League champion and 2022 runner-up, is in second place at 1-under par. She trails Boston's Alice Fan by one stroke.
Senior Vicky Zhu, who finished third at this event last year, is sixth at 1-over par. Two more Spiders are in the top 10: freshman Olivia Wilkie is eighth at 3-over par, and sophomore Lauren Jones is tied for ninth at 4-over par.
Senior Muskan Uppal is in 12th at 7-over par, four shots in front of freshman Hannah Lydic, who is tied for 22nd.
The Spiders will be seeking their fourth Patriot League Championship and first since 2018 Sunday.
