Spiders end Season in A-10 Championship Semifinal Match Against VCU

ORLANDO, Fla. –The University of Richmond Women's Tennis team battled, but its comeback bid fell just short in singles play against No. 1 VCU Saturday morning, 4-3, in the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinal match. With the loss, the Spiders ended the 2023 season with a 10-15 record and a 3-2 mark in A-10 play.

After the Rams clinched the doubles point and a singles point on court one, the Spiders began to rally back as Claire Le Du posted a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Anja Drasovic (VCU) on court five and Andrea Campodonico captured a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Victoria Matasova (VCU) on court three to tie the match. Elizabeth Novak clinched a go-ahead point for the Spiders on court four, defeating Gabriela Davidescu, 6-2, 7-5. The Rams picked up another singles point on court six while Carly Cohen and Yelizaveta Karlova (VCU) battled it out on court two. Cohen dropped the first set 6-4, and rallied back in the second set but fell just short at 7-5 as the Rams snuck away with the semifinal victory.
