RICHMOND, Va. – Under the new direction of Head Coach Adam Denton, the University of Richmond Soccer team unveiled its 2023 fall schedule Tuesday. The 2023 slate features a pair of preseason exhibition matches, eight non-conference matchups and 10 Atlantic 10 Conference games while eight of the matches will be played on President's Field at River Road.
"I'm really excited about this year's schedule," Denton said. "We have some quality non-conference opponents from multiple conferences that will help us prepare for a tough A-10 schedule."
The Spiders will prepare for the season with exhibition matches against George Washington Aug. 5 and UNC Greensboro Aug. 12. Richmond will then officially open the 2023 regular season at Longwood Aug. 17.
Senior Day for the Spiders is Aug. 20 against Nevada, before the team welcomes William & Mary on Aug. 24.
Following the pair of home matches, Richmond will travel to Old Dominion on Aug. 27 before welcoming Radford to President's Field on Aug. 31. The team will then round out the non-conference schedule with trips to Delaware Sept. 3, American Sept. 7 and a home contest against Charlotte on Sept. 10.
Richmond opens the 2023 A-10 slate at VCU on Sept. 14 and plays host to Saint Joseph's Sept. 17 and George Mason Sept. 21. Following the match with the Patriots, the Spiders will take a weekend trip to Philadelphia on Sept. 24 for a match against La Salle before hosting Family Weekend on Oct. 1 against St. Bonaventure.
"I'm extremely excited about the opportunity this fall for our team as we start to build up the program this season against top teams," Denton said.
The Spiders take on the reigning A-10 champion Saint Louis Oct. 8 before traveling to Loyola Chicago Oct. 12 for a mid-week matchup. For the final three matches, Richmond will host Davidson Oct. 15 before welcoming Rhode Island Oct. 19 for the final home match and will conclude the season at Duquesne on Oct. 22 in Pittsburgh.
The A-10 quarterfinals are set for Oct. 28-29 while the A-10 semifinal and championship matches are slated for Nov. 3-5 on campus sites.
