Women's Basketball Opponents Determined for Expanded 18-Game A-10 Season
06/29/2023 | Women's Basketball
RICHMOND, Va. — The Atlantic 10 revealed pairings for the 2023-24 women's basketball season Thursday, with Richmond slated to play a home-and-home series against four conference opponents: VCU, Duquesne, Rhode Island, and George Washington.
The Spiders will also host Dayton, Fordham, La Salle, Loyola Chicago, and Massachusetts at the Robins Center while making road trips to Davidson, George Mason, St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph's, and Saint Louis as part of their expanded 18-game conference schedule this season.
Richmond and VCU have split their annual home-and-home series in each of the last three seasons, with both road teams winning in 2022-23. The upcoming season will be the 11th straight in which the Spiders and Rams meet twice during the regular season, a stretch that started in 2013-14, VCU's second season in the Atlantic 10.
UR's two matchups against Rhode Island last season came in the regular season and in the 2nd Round of the Women's NIT. The Rams outlasted the Spiders 74-64 in March to earn a spot in the Super 16 of the WNIT, ending Richmond's deepest postseason run since 2014-15.
The Spiders faced Duquesne and George Washington one time each last season, dropping a 65-63 decision in the Robins Center to GW on December 31 and falling to Duquense on the road on February 18 by an 83-69 final.
The 2023-24 Spiders return their top six scorers from a team that finished 21-11 last year, the most wins for the program since the 2011-12 season. Richmond's lineup will feature two-time All-Atlantic 10 selection Addie Budnik and 2023 All-Conference and All-Rookie selection Maggie Doogan, giving Head Coach Aaron Roussell a formidable frontcourt as he starts his fifth season with the Spiders.
Fans interested in tickets for the 2023-24 season can purchase traditional season tickets for $30 or a season's worth of ticket vouchers, which can be used in any quantity at individual games, for $40. There is a $5 discount for returning season ticket holders and men's basketball season ticket holders.
