Men’s Basketball Reveals Non-Conference Schedule
08/25/2023 | Men's Basketball
RICHMOND, Va. — The Richmond Men's Basketball team announced its non-conference schedule for the 2023-24 season Friday. The 13-game slate includes at least three matchups against power-conference opponents in addition to meetings with a handful of top-tier mid-major programs.
Richmond will begin its season against VMI for a second straight year, with the teams meeting on November 6 at the Robins Center, site of UR's season-opening 69-48 win over the Keydets in 2022.
Following a home game vs Siena on November 11, the Spiders will travel to Boston College of the ACC on November 15 to renew a rivalry last played in 2019. UR has won three of its previous four meetings vs BC, including a 64-44 win at the Robins Center in 2019.
UR will begin Thanksgiving week in Daytona Beach, Fla. at the Sunshine Slam, where the Spiders will face Colorado on November 20 at 8 PM on CBS Sports Network and either Florida State or UNLV on November 21. Tickets for the event, which will be held at the Ocean Center, are now available.
Following Thanksgiving, the Spiders will alternate home games vs Queens (November 25) and William & Mary (December 2) with road trips to Wichita State (November 29) and Northern Iowa (December 6).
Richmond will return to Florida on December 9 to take on the Florida Gators at the FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Fla. as part of the Orange Bowl Classic. In UR's last appearance in the Orange Bowl Classic, the Spiders defeated 13th-ranked Florida 56-53 in 2009.
The Spiders will conclude their non-conference schedule with a three-game homestand, facing Charlotte on December 16, Buffalo on December 21, and Lafayette on December 30 at the Robins Center, where UR posted a 12-4 record last season.
Tip-off times and TV broadcast information for all Richmond non-conference games will be updated on RichmondSpiders.com as it becomes available. UR's full schedule, including conference games, will be announced in September.
2022-23 season ticket holders are able to renew their seats by calling the Richmond Athletics Ticket Office at 1-877-SPIDER1 or logging into their account and completing the Season Renewal Application. Fans interested in purchasing season tickets for the first time can submit a $50 deposit online.
