Field Hockey Dominates James Madison, 3-0

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond Field Hockey collected the program's first win over James Madison since 2013, dominating the Dukes 3-0 Sunday at Crenshaw Field. The Spiders tallied a 1-0 victory on Sept. 15, 2013 over the Dukes at Crenshaw Field.
Richmond (1-1) returns to Crenshaw Field Friday, September 1, hosting American at 5 PM on ESPN+.
Kaitlyn Csensits put the Spiders on the board first in the 11th minute, taking advantage of a scramble in front of the net to put in a quick pass from Ella Hayes. Less than a minute later in the first quarter, Stevie Drum put Richmond up 2-0 after Charly Faherty pushed a pass up from the top of the circle right to Drum.
In the 57th minute, on the Spiders second corner of the game, Alexandria Lavelle tipped in a pass from Stevie Drum, which was sent in by Alexa Derr after Lavelle inserted the ball to make it 3-0.
UR goalie Kristen Rake and the Spider defense held the Dukes to two corners in the contest, both in the fourth quarter. Rake tallied five saves and collected her first shutout.
Both squads tallied seven shots with five on goal and two corners in the physical contest.
