Hall-of-Famer Stacy Tutt Excited by New Collaboration, Return of Spiders Football

RICHMOND, Va. — Stacy Tutt, the former Spider Football star who was inducted to the Richmond Athletics Hall of Fame in 2021, is coming back to Robins Stadium this Saturday.
After graduating from the University of Richmond with numerous athletics honors, Tutt went on to play 11 NFL games for the New York Jets before suffering a career-ending injury. However, his passion for sports never faded.
Tutt is currently the athletic commissioner for Impact Sports Academy, a youth program located in Hanover that provides workouts ranging from intense skills training to private coaching lessons in NFL flag football, baseball, softball and sports performance training.
"The whole idea is just to create lasting relationships with these kids and one day have them impact the community in their own way," says Tutt.
Tutt is making a change in young athletes' lives in hopes of inspiring them to make changes in the lives of others. When asked what one virtue he seeks to instill in the youth that he works with, Tutt replied:
"Once you figure out what it is that you want to do with your life, make sure you spend a little bit of time every day building it. You can't build a house overnight, but you can put one brick down perfectly one day, and then another brick down perfectly the next day."
Tutt has partnered with Spider Athletics to bring a group of more than 100 kids and 150 parents from Impact Sports Academy to Richmond's home opener against Morgan State this Saturday.
"You don't find it [the University] by accident, you kind of have to know where you're going to get there. I just want to make the campus visible to kids at a young age," says Tutt. "Even if they don't end up going there, just letting them know that it's a great school in their backyard."
He hopes this experience will allow these young athletes the opportunity to be exposed some of what the University of Richmond has to offer and give them a goal to build up to, one brick at a time.
Tutt will be honored for his career at Richmond and his work with young athletes in between the first and second quarters at Saturday's game. Tickets for Saturday's home opener, which will kick at 6 PM, are still available.
