Young Selected by Philadelphia Wings in 2023 NLL Entry Draft

Oakville, Ontario – University of Richmond attackman Dalton Young was selected 45th overall by the Philadelphia Wings in the third round of the 2023 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft Saturday.
Young is the third Spider to be drafted to the NLL after Jake Saunders was selected 16th overall by the Las Vegas Desert Dogs in 2022 and Ryan Lanchbury went second overall to the Georgia Swarm in 2021.
Young returns for his final year of eligibility and heads into the 2024 with 110 goals and 76 assists and stands as Richmond's third all-time points leader and fourth-ever Spider to reach the 100-goal milestone.
Young is one of the nation's most consistent scorers, carrying a 41-game point streak into the 2024 season and has recorded a point in 43 of 49 career games. He is one of only a handful of active players with a 40+ game point streak, having racked up 99 goals and 70 assists for 169 points over the duration of his 41-game streak. Young's goal streak is also one of the longest nationally, having tallied 56 goals over the last 25-consecutive games.
2023 was a standout year for Young, who finished with a team-leading, career-high 73 points via 32 goals and 41 assists. He was named a USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America Honorable Mention.
The 2023 Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year put on a clinic in Richmond's 15-8 semifinals victory over UMass, tying a career-high eight points via five goals and four assists. He anchored the Spiders attack with two goals and an assist in the title game against High Point to help Richmond earn its fifth-trip to the NCAA tournament.
